Fixtures & Results:

10/29/2019:  GHS - Albany  2:2
Goals: Mead (2)

Our team's second game of the season against Albany was much different from the first one. Early in the season, the boys easily defeated the Falcons 7-1. Albany was much improved for this game which ended in a 2-2 tie through two OT's as darkness was moving in rather quickly at the end. In a closely contested game, the Dutch scored on an Ibrahim goal midway through the second quarter. For our second goal, Cole Mead defended a breakaway and somehow ended up springing Ibrahim for his second goal of the 2nd quarter. Although we seemed to control the game, we didn't put it away in the 3rd quarter. We had scoring chances but just couldn't put the ball in the back of the net. Albany came out at the start of the 4th quarter on fire. They scored quickly off of the opening kickoff. Much of the rest of the quarter was our team playing on its heels. We defended multiple Albany scoring opportunities and finally relented with about five minutes left in the game when Albany scored to tie it 2-2. The Dutch had more scoring opportunities in the two exciting four minute OT sessions but neither team scored as the game ended in a 2-2 tie with Darkness settling in.

10/28/2019: GHS - Schenectady  6:0
Goals: Frimpong (2), Kibit (2), Pasha (1), Mohammad (1)

The Guilderland Mod-9 team was allowed to play a game on the Varsity field. They were hoping to take advantage of the opportunity to showcase their talents. They certainly did, defeating the Schenectady squad 6-0. The scoring started early with a Cole Mead corner getting converted by Coby. The second goal started in the defensive third of the field when Kai stole the ball and made a sweet pass up field to Ronnie. Ronnie made a nice move to get by the defender and rocketed a shot to blow it by the goalie. Then the game got a bit physical and chippy. Ronnie scored his second goal of the game on a cross from Kai. Haroon hit a lefty shot off a goalie deflection from a corner kick for the fourth goal. Coby had a nice header off of a cross for the fifth goal. Ibrahim scored off of a rebound from an Haroon shot for the sixth and final goal of the game.

10/25/2019:  GHS - Niskayuna 2:0
Goals: Tanner (1), Pasha (1)

Dutch Mod-9 team completely controlled their game against Niskayuna.

Displaying superior skills and at times toying with ‘The Warriors’, we cruised to an easy 2-0 victory.

We scored on sweet shots by Sam Tanner and Haroon as this game could have easily been 6-0.

Once again the defense was anchored by the reliable Cole Mead and Aiden Templeton. Jacob Becker had another really nice game for ‘The Dutch’.

10/23/2019:  Saratoga - GHS 1:0

Saratoga was undefeated up until this game and were lucky to come out with a win against a game Dutch squad.

This was a great back and forth game by both teams. Quinn Orsini had a great save in the first half.

Guilderland started the second half in control. Ibrahim had a breakaway that he couldn’t put away when his shot sailed over the crossbar.

Saratoga scored on a looping shot in the second half for the only score of the game.

A friendly Saratoga parent commented that this game against the Dutch was their toughest of the season.

10/21/2019:  GHS - Ballston Spa 2:0
Goals: Mohammed (1), Frimpong (1)

On an absolutely gorgeous fall day, the Dutchman Mod-9 team was treated with the opportunity to host Ballston Spa on the Varsity field and they did not disappoint.

We controlled the first half of the first quarter.  After a goal was called back, Ballston Spa succumbed to the relentless pressure as #14 Ibraham scored a goal.

Coby scored on a misdirected ball in the box that he gathered up in the middle of a scrum.

Aiden Templeton shut down two breakaways which was about the only offense that Ballston Spa was able to muster on the day, as he Cole Mead and Sam Tanner controlled the game.

This one wasn’t as close as the score indicated. We hit the post three times and the crossbar once. We just need to learn to put games like this away. Dutch victory 2-0.

10/11/2019:  Shen - GHS 2:1
Goals: Tanner (1)

On 10/11 the Guilderland Dutchman Mod-9 team played an evenly skilled Shenendehowa Plainsman team.  The 1st quarter ended with no score. The best chance for a goal by either team was by Coby Frimpong.  Even though the play went back and forth, the second and third quarters saw Shen take control of the game with better scoring chances than our Dutch squad. The biggest difference in the game was Shen’s set plays. Notably their corner kicks. They took a 1-0 lead on a header off of a corner kick when a Shen player came through unmarked in the second quarter and scored again in the third to make it 2-0.  Sam Tanner showed off nice skills on a beautiful thru ball by Coby. Sam worked the ball back-and-forth against the goalie pushing it to his left foot for a beautiful goal. The final score was a 2-1 loss for the Dutch.

09/27/2019:  Shaker - GHS 3:1
Goals: Pasha (1)

On another beautiful fall day the boys mod-9 team had a very competitive game with Shaker, with Shaker winning 3-1.

The score didn’t tell the whole story of the game. It was back-and-forth battle with Guilderland controlling much of the play in the first half. The goal of the game is to more goals than your opponent and Shaker did just that.

Haroon had a very nice goal towards the end of the first half, displaying tremendous hustle and determination.

The second half was similar back-and-forth play with the Dutch having scoring opportunities but we just couldn’t take advantage of those chances.

Keeper Quinn Orsini had a good game stopping multiple goal attempts including some point blank shots.

09/25/2019:  Schenectady - GHS 0:3
GoalsMohammed (2), Frimpong (1)

Friday the team traveled to Schenectady. Our boys controlled the game and came out on top 3-0. It could’ve easily been a bigger win. Our first goal started with a beautiful corner kick by Cole Mead. After bouncing around in the box for a little bit the ball came to Kobe Frimpong who struck hard and scored.

Guilderland scored two more goals in the first half. Both by #14 Mohammed. One was a heads up goal after a miss hit by the opposing goalie. His second goal was due  to nice hustle.

The second half didn’t result in any scoring but we had a steady dose of nice passing leading to several opportunities. Our defense played very well and was anchored by Cole Mead and Aiden Templeton

09/23/2019:  GHS - Colonie HS  4:0
Goals: Mohammed (3), Frimpong (1)

GHS dominated in a physical match against Colonie. The Dutchmen took control of the game early with two goals by Mohammed making it 2-0 going into the 2nd half. Frimpong had a perfectly executed break away bringing the Dutchmen to  3-0 lead. Outstanding defense throughout the game shut down Colonie's scoring attempts giving keepers Orsini and Defransisco a low touch game. In the 4th quarter, Mohammed hustled to goal stealing the ball from the Colonie keeper giving him his 3rd goal of the day, ending the game with a 4-0 shut out.

09/20/2019: Bethlehem - GHS  2:2
