Sectional playoffs:
10/22/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 0 - Columbia 1
Goals:
Assists:
Saves:

Guilderland’s 2015 campaign ended on a sad note Friday in their first game of the sectional playoffs. Seeded 7th the Dutchmen hosted 10th seed Columbia who the Dutch had fell to during the regular season in a heartbreaking 2-1 overtime loss in the final seconds of play. The Dutch dominated play early, but midway through the first half an errant pass back to the keeper resulted in an own goal and a 1-0 lead for Columbia. The Dutchmen continued to dominate possession and it seemed that it would only be a matter of time before they evened the score up, but they struggled to create shots on goal. In the second half they continued to dominate play and finally generated some decent shots on goal, but the Columbia keeper made some outstanding saves to preserve the victory for the Devils. The Dutchmen ended their regular season with an 8-5-3 record, scoring 36 goals while allowing 22.

GAME 16 (final game regular season)
10/17/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Colonie 2
Goals: Ben Couture (1)
Assists: 0
Saves:

Guilderland played their final regular season game on a cold Saturday afternoon that included a recognition ceremony for the team's outgoing seniors. The game was a pretty even back and forth until midway through the first half when the ref appeared to abdicate their duties and called a handball in the box that no one seemed to have seen except the Colonie players. Colonie converted the PK to go up 1-0. The game remained close until midway through the second half when the Raiders added an insurance goal. The Dutch tried frantically to answer back and finally succeeded with less than two minutes to go in thegame when Ben Couture buried one in the back of the net. With that little time remaining, the Dutch valiantly tried to get the equalizer. With five seconds left, a header off a free kick almost did the trick, but went wide left by a hair leaving the Dutchmen with a 2-1 loss and an 8-5-3 final regular season record.

GAME 15
10/13/2015 @Columbia: Columbia 2 - Guilderland 1
Goals: Dominic Spaulding (1)
Assists: Kieran Thapalia (1)
Saves:

Tuesday’s game was under the lights in East Greenbush, where Columbia played their “Senior Game”.  After a pretty evenly played 9 minutes Columbia got on the board first.  The Dutch continued to get their chances and finally converted 7 minutes later after Kieran Thapalia, on a give and go, made a beautifully placed cross in the box that Dom Spaulding converted for the tying goal.  For the rest of the first half and all of the second half, neither team was able to capitalize on their scoring opportunities.  In overtime, the Dutch had some good opportunities, but could not pull the trigger.  Fortunately, some superb keeper play by Jared Rubin kept Guilderland in the game.  Then late in the second overtime period it looked like the Dutch would secure the much needed win as Guilderland engineered a breakaway that looked like it would end the game, but a Columbia defender was able to deflect the ball over the net at the last second.  Then with less than a minute left, the Dutch mounted another charge into Devil territory that was stopped by Columbia’s last defender.  Quickly Columbia moved the ball back down to the Guilderland end and punched in the game winner with just seconds to spare.  It was a disappointing loss for Guilderland whose record now stands at 8-4-3.  The Dutchmen play their final regular season game at home on Saturday against Colonie. We hope you will find the time to attend the game since we will acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of our seniors during "Senior Day".

GAME 14
10/08/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Bethlehem 3
Goals: Eddie Yu (1)
Assists: Ben Couture (1)
Saves:

The Dutchmen came out strong against a tough Bethlehem team that brought along its own cheering section.  After a spirited back and forth Guilderland got on the board a little over 10 minutes into the game when Ben Couture made a strong cross to Eddie Yu who deposited the ball into the back of the net.  The Dutch continued to look strong the rest of the half, but were unable to add to their lead.  Then the second half started and it appeared that Guilderland had a different team on the field as the Dutch went into a more defensive, lead protecting posture.  As a result, Bethlehem dominated play in the second half and finally, 18 minutes in, they tied the score.  Shifting into overdrive, Bethlehem got the go ahead goal 4 minutes later.  With 10 minutes to go in the contest the Eagles iced the game with their third unanswered goal, dealing the Dutch their third loss of the season, 3-1.

GAME 13
10/06/2015 @Mohonasen: Mohonasen 0 - GHS 4
Goals: Jeremy Collen (1), Kevin Keegan (1),  Michael Friguletto (1), Kieran Thapalia (1)
Assists: Eddy Yu (2), Jeremy Collen (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (1)

The Dutchmen went on the road Tuesday to face Mohonasen.  After a scoreless first half, due in part to a failed PK attempt by the Dutch, Guilderland finally got things on track in the second half.  Less than 2 minutes in Jeremy Collen started the scoring with a header into the back of the net off a nice cross from Eddie Yu.  About midway through the period Kevin Keegan scored Guilderland’s second goal converting a pass from Collen.  Less than 5 minutes later Mike Friguletto made it 3-0 off another Eddie Yu cross.  Kieran Thapalia closed out the scoring, carrying the ball in and sliding the ball across the goal past the Mohonasen keeper as the Dutch won 4-0 and improved their record to 8-2-3.

GAME 12
10/05/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Saratoga 1
Goals: Kevin Keegan (1)
Assists: Tyler Landry (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (6)

The Dutchmen tied Saratoga Monday 1-1.  Guilderland scored first with a little more than 3 minutes left in the first half when Kevin Keegan knocked home the goal from the left side of the box after an assist by Tyler Landry.  That lead held for most of the second half, thanks to several big saves by Jared Rubin, but with a little over 8 minutes left in regulation Saratoga evened things up when they converted a long throw in for a goal.

GAME 11
10/03/2015 @HOF: Guilderland 2- Johnson City HS 1
Goals: Dom Spaulding (1), Tyler Landry (1)
Assists: Tyler Landry (1), Dom Spaulding (1)

Guilderland scored an impressive win Saturday, knocking off the #5 state ranked school in Class "A", 2-1 in OT, at the Oneonta Soccer Showcase.  Tyler Landry scored the game winner just 30 seconds into overtime.  In regulation, Dom Spaulding scored for the Dutchmen, assisted by Tyler Landry.

GAME 10
10/01/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 0 - Ballston Spa 2
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Saves:

Guilderland faced undefeated Suburban Council powerhouse Ballston Spa Thursday and for the first half they appeared every bit Ballston Spa’s equal outshooting the Scotties and dominating possession.  But Ballston clearly made some second half adjustments and once they scored, 12 minutes into the half, they never looked back.  They closed out the scoring 5 minutes later to win 2-0, giving the Dutchmen only their second loss of the season.

GAME 9
09/26/2015 @ Niskayuna: Niskayuna 1 - Guilderland 2
Goals: Ben Couture (1), Eddie Yu (1)
Assists: Jared Rubin (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (8)

Guilderland defeated Niskayuna on the road Saturday, 2-1, in double overtime.  A little over 10 minutes into the first half Ben Couture picked up the ball 20 yards past midfield on the right, dribbled across to the left and shot under pressure back across goal to the upper right corner for the first goal.  Just a couple minutes later Niskayuna headed in the tying goal off a free kick. Niskayuna controlled much of the play as the Dutchmen sat back and looked to counter. Niskayuna had twice as many shots, Guilderland had twice as many corners, but neither team could find another goal. Jared Rubin racked up 5 big saves to keep Guilderland in it.  With less than a minute left in the second overtime period, Eddie Yu slammed home the game winner as Guilderland’s free kick bounced off a Nisky player to Yu’s feet. This victory puts Guilderland at 6-1-2 for the season.

GAME 8
09/24/2015 @Troy: Troy 1 - Guilderland 7
Goals: Antonio Lia (1), Kevin Keagan (1), Cameron Collett (1), Dominic Spaulding (1), Nick Honen (1), Ben Couture (1), Kieran Thapalia (1)
Assists: Nick Honen (1), Antonio Lia (1), Jeremy Collen (1), Tyler Landry (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (3)

Guilderland played under the lights Thursday night in Troy.  Antonio Lia started off the scoring a little over 10 minutes in, the goal was assisted on by Nick Honen's throw in.  A couple minutes later Kevin Keegan headed in a pass from Lia to put the Dutch up 2-0 at the half.  Less than 8 minutes in to the second half Troy buried a ball past Jared Rubin to make the score 2-1 Dutch, but that was as close as it ever got.  About 7 minutes later Cameron Collett scored to put the Dutchmen up 3-1 on a pass from Jeremy Collen. Dominic Spaulding checked into the game and scored from just outside the 18 to make it 4-1 a couple minutes later.  After a few more minutes, the Dutch added another when Nick Honen finished a nice cross from Tyler Landry.  With a little over 17 minutes left in the game Ben Couture fired a rocket that bounced off the goalie’s hands into the net.  With 8 minutes to go Kieran Thapalia was taken down in the box and converted the PK to close out the scoring as Guilderland defeated Troy 7-1.  A strong outing for the Dutch, but a costly one as Antonio Lia suffered a broken toe in the second half and appears to be out for the rest of the season.

GAME 7
09/17/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 4 - Albany 0
Goals: Eddy Yu (1), Jeremy Collen (1), Matt Iuorno (1), Tyler Landry (1)
Assists: Eddy Yu (1), Antonio Lia (1), Angelo Amore (1)

Guilderland faced Albany at home Thursday and once again scored early, less than 2 minutes in, when Eddie Yu put the ball in the back of the net.  About 14 minutes in Jeremy Collen added a goal with Eddie Yu assisting this time, to give the Dutch a 2-0 halftime lead.  14 minutes in to the second half Matt Iuorno scored off an assist by Antonia Lia.  Then with less than 19 minutes to go in the game, Tyler Landry closed out the scoring off an assist by Angelo Amore giving the Dutchmen a 4-0 victory.  Jared Rubin had 2 saves as the Dutch better their record to 4-1-2.

GAME 6

Goals: Eddi Yu (1), Jeremy Collen (2), Lia (1)
Assists: Ben Couture (1), Kieran Thalapia (1), Cameron Collett (1), Ben Irving (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (1)

The Dutchmen travelled to Averill Park Tuesday and got down to business right away when Eddie Yu scored off an assist from Ben Couture less than a minute into the game.  A couple minutes later, Jeremy Collen converted off an assist from Kieran Thapalia.  Collen picked up his second goal of the game about 25 minutes in, assisted this time by Cameron Collett.  With less than 10 minutes to go in the first half the Dutch closed out their scoring when Antonio Lia tapped in a well-placed cross from Ben Irving.  Averill Park scored their lone goal about midway through the second period as Guilderland won 4-1.

GAME 5
09/12/2015 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - BH-BL 1
Goals: Eddie Yu (1)
Assists: Tyler Landry (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (2)

Saturday’s game against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake turned out to be an evenly matched contest.  Jared Rubin made 2 big first half saves to keep the game level, but with a little more than 5 minutes left in the half Burnt Hills chipped the ball over a diving Rubin to go ahead 1-0.  A little over 11 minutes into the second half, Eddie Yu scored on an assist by Tyler Landry to tie the game up and that’s where things ended after 2 overtime periods, Guilderland 1 Burnt Hills 1.  Guilderland had about dozen shots and 6 corner kicks, but aside from Yu’s goal could not find the back of the net.  The 2015 campaign continues Tuesday with an away game at Averill Park.

GAME 4
09/10/2015 @GHS:  Guilderland 4 - Shaker 2
Goals: Antonio Lia (3), Eddie Yu (1)
Assists: Eddie Yu (1), Antonio Lia (1), Ben Couture (1), Angelo Amore (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (7)

Thursday afternoon, the Dutchmen faced a highly touted Shaker team at home.  The hype appeared deserved when Shaker nearly walked a ball into the back of the net less than 2 minutes into the game.  Despite this shaky start, Guilderland played aggressively, and a little less than 15 minutes in, Antonio Lia tied the game up with a strike set up by a cross from Eddie Yu.  Lia put the Dutch ahead a couple minutes later scoring unassisted.  Five minutes later, Shaker managed to tie things back up and the game was on.  Then with less than 3 minutes left in the half Lia got the hat-trick to put Guilderland ahead for good.  The second half was a spirited back and forth that appeared to favor the Dutch.  Finally, with less than 2 minutes to go in the game, Eddie Yu put in the insurance goal, allowing Guilderland to walk away with an impressive 4-2 victory over Shaker.

GAME 3
09/08/2015 @Shen: Shen 4 - Guilderland 0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0
Saves: Jared Rubin (1)

Tuesday the Dutchmen traveled to Clifton Park to play Shenendehowa in Time Warner Cable’s game of the week.  For the first nearly 20 minutes the game was an evenly matched back and forth with neither side able to put the ball in the net, thanks in part to a great save by Jared Rubin on a Shen breakaway.  But shortly after the 19 minute mark Shen got on the board with a play that appeared to be offside, but when later viewed in slow motion replay was in fact a perfectly timed run.  About 2 minutes later Shen made it 2 – nil on a perfectly placed direct kick from just outside the box.  With about 12 minutes left in the half, Shen added a 3rd goal when their player beat 2 defenders in the box to deliver a strike to the right of Jared Rubin.  The Plainsmen added their 4th and final goal about 14 minutes into the second half looping a ball over Rubin’s head.  Despite the lop-sided score, the Dutch appeared evenly matched with Shen.  The difference in the game was that the Plainsmen capitalized on their opportunities while Guilderland struggled to get a shot off, despite having 5 corner kicks and 10 direct kicks inside Shen’s half of the pitch.

GAME 2
09/03/2015 @SHS: SHS 1 - Guilderland 1
Goals: Antonio Lia (1)
Assists: 0
Saves: Jared Rubin (1)

Thursday's Varsity game at Schenectady got off to a late start after a lightning delay and was delayed again after thunder less than 12 minutes into the game. The Dutch got on the board in the 10th minute off a fluke misplay by the Schenectady goalie. Antonio Lia was credited with the goal. Schenectady, on a rare break through, took a long throw-in, followed by a cross to an on-running Patriot and evened the score in the 23rd minute of the 1st half. That's how the game ended, tied 1-1. Though the Dutch recorded a point, it was a disappointing outing that ended in darkness after 20 minutes of scoreless double overtime. Sadly, despite dominating possession (GHS outshot SHS 13-2) and having numerous set pieces (13-1 corner kicks) throughout the game, the Dutch were unable to finish and put more points on the board.

GAME 1
09/01/2015 @Snyder Field: Guilderland 3 - CBA 0

Goals: Cameron Collett (1), Tyler Landry (1), Jeremy Collen (1)
Assists: Ben Couture (1)
Saves: Jared Rubin (2)

The Dutchmen defeated Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) 3-0 in the season opener at home Tuesday. Though the Dutchmen dominated possession the entire game the team didn't get on the board during the first half. Cameron Collett opened the 2015 campaign with a game winning goal in the 12th minute of the second half.  Jeremy Collen's shot from the 18 caromed off the crossbar and was followed in by a header from Cameron Collett to make it 1-0. Five minutes later, Matt Iuorno was taken down in the box. Tyler Landry made it 2-0 with the PK. To finish the scoring, Ben Couture crossed the ball from the left side of the 18 to an ontunning Jeremy Collen who finished near post to make it 3-0 in favor of the home team. The game was a very physical contest that saw three yellow cards recorded (2 for CBA, 1 for GHS). Jared Rubin was in the net and had to make two saves for the shotout with the defense allowing CBA very few shooting opportunities.
