Postseason games - Sectionals (AA)

This was the final match for the 2017 Dutchmen. This team is a talented group of young men that we are very proud of and of everything they have accomplished this season. All together, they played 18 matches, ended the season with 11 wins, 5 loses, and 2 ties, they scored 28 goals and allowed 13 goals, and had 10 shutouts. For the seniors we wish you the best as you finish this school year and move on after high school. For the juniors and sophomores, we look forward to seeing you on the pitch next year. Thank you to the coaches, the parents, the faculty, the fans, and the Red Sea for all of your support this year.


Quarter Final:
10/21/2017 @Shen: Shen 1 - Guilderland 0

The Dutchmen traveled to Clifton Park to play their quarterfinal match against the Plainsmen. This was a well-played match by both teams. Early on, the Dutchmen pressed the Plainsmen and they had a few crosses into the box. Midway through the first half, the Plainsmen started to have more time in the Dutchmen half. Then in the 34th minute, a Plainsmen player was taken down just outside the box resulting in a direct free-kick. The Plainsmen played a nice shot over the wall and it glanced off the bottom of the crossbar into the goal to put the Plainsmen up 1 to 0. In the second half, both teams played well and the match was very even. The Dutchmen put some runs together but they were unable to score the equalizer and Shenedehowa earned the 1-0 victory and will move on to the semifinals.



First Round:
10/19/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 2 - Schenectady 0

The Dutchmen opened sectional play with a home match against Schenectady. From the start, the Dutchmen pressured the Patriots. In the 13th minute, Rubin Chen played a ball down the line. Arnav Kannan took the ball along the end line and placed a nice pass in front of the goal where Brandon Ford scored to put the Dutchmen up 1-0. In the 34th minute, the Dutchmen were awarded a penalty kick from a handball in the box. The Dutchmen attempt went just wide and the teams went to the half with the Dutchmen leading 1-0. At the start of the second half, Schenectady pressured the Dutchmen but they were unable to score. In the 55th minute, the Dutchmen were awarded another penalty kick when a player was taken down in the box. Arnav Kannan took the penalty kick but the Schenectady goalie made the save and the second opportunity to extend their lead was also missed by the Dutchmen. Then in the 69th minute, Schenectady was pressuring the Dutchmen and the Dutchmen quickly counterattacked. Sean Weaver took the ball down the sideline and passed to Brandon Ford. Brandon carried the ball into the box and scored his second goal of the game to put the Dutchmen up 2-0. IN the 74th minute, Schenectady had an opportunity to get on the board. Patrick Palmer made some moves to beat the Dutchmen defenders but Aaron Ashery made the save to keep the Patriots off the board. The Dutchmen will travel to Shenendehowa to play their quarter final on Saturday at 5:00pm.

GAME 16
10/14/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 3 - Niskayuna 0

This marked the final match of the regular season and Senior Day was celebrated. There was a large crowd to watch the match including the Red Sea who has been supporting the team all season. The  Dutchmen got on the board in the 17th minute when Alex Mendel weaved through the Niskayuna defenders and played a great ball to Brandon Ford who slipped his shot past the Niskayuna keeper. In the 29th minute, Niskayuna had an opportunity to score off a free kick but Aaron Ashery made a diving save. The team went into halftime with the Dutchmen up 1 to 0. In the 46th minute, Adam Couture placed a free kick into the box where Dan duMoulin headed the ball into the back of the net to put the Dutchmen up 2 to 0. In the 48th minute, Niskayuna had another opportunity but Aaron Ashery tipped the ball over the top of the goal to keep them off the board. In the 50th minute, a Dutchmen player received the second yellow of the match and the Dutchmen had to play the remaining 30 minutes a man down. In the 52nd minute, the Dutchmen scored their third goal of the game. Brandon Ford played a nice ball to Alex Mendel whose shot went past the Niskayuna keeper. Aaron Ashery got the shutout for the Dutchmen. The Dutchmen will play in Sectional and their first round game will be this Thursday at 3:00pm at home against Schenectady.




GAME 15
10/10/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Shaker 2

The Dutchmen played a strong game against Shaker. Both teams came out aggressively with several good chances going each way, but each team was unable to convert. Then in the 13th minute, the Dutchmen took a 1-0 lead when Evan Luck received a perfectly placed through ball from Brandon Ford that found the back of the net. In the 38th minute, Shaker scored to tie the game at halftime. Both teams attacked in the second half but the defenses played well. In the 65th minute, Shaker had a corner kick that was directed into the goal to put Shaker up for the final score of 2-1.




GAME 14
10/05/2017 @Colonie: Colonie 0 - Guilderland 1

The Dutchmen traveled to Colonie for the match and from the start the Dutchmen pressured Colonie. Throughout the half, each team had opportunities but they were unable to score. In the final minute of the first half the Dutchmen were awarded a penalty kick when Brandon Ford was taken down in the box. The Colonie goalkeeper made a diving save to keep the score 0-0 at halftime. For most of the second half the Dutchmen had an excellent scoring opportunity right off the kickoff. For most of the second half the Dutchmen carried the play and had additional scoring opportunities throughout the half. At the end of regulation, the score was tied 0 to 0 and we were headed to overtime for the second game in a row. In the 86th minute, Caset Tynan beat two Colonie defenders to the ball and had just enough space to bend his shot around the Colonie goalkeeper to end th game. Casey was then surrounded by his teammates as they celebrated the Dutchmen victory. Guilderland had 8 shots on goal and Aaron Ashery had 4 saves in the shutout. The Dutchmen will play their next game at home against Shaker on Tuesday.



GAME 13
10/03/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 0 - Schenectady 0

It was just one of those days for the Dutchmen. Despite outshooting Schenectady 15-3, the game ended in a scoreless draw. Guilderland was awarded a penalty kick in the first overtime but the shot hit the crossbar and Schenectady cleared the ball. The Dutchmen pressured Schenectady throughout overtime but they were unable to score.

10/02/2017 @Mohonasen: Mohonasen 1 - GHS 3

The Dutchmen controlled the match from the start. The Dutchmen got on the board in the 13th minute. Ryan Eddy threw the ball in, Alex Mendel got a touch on the ball to Casey Tynan who scored to put the Dutchmen up 1 to 0. In the 20th minute, the Dutchmen were awarded a corner kick. Arnav Kannan put the ball into the box where Dan duMoulin headed the ball down and Brandon Ford scored to put the Dutchmen up 2 to 0. In the 35th minute, Mohonasen was awarded a penalty kick when they were fouled in the box. Aaron Ashery made a great diving save on the penalty kick to keep the score 2 to 0 at the half. Early in the second half, the Dutchmen got on the board again. Marco Sciocchetti passed to Alex Mendel who then found Evan Luck who scored to put the Dutchmen up 3 to 0. In the 67th minute, Mohonasen scored to make the final score 3 to 1. The Dutchmen will play their next match on Tuesday against Schenectady.


GAME 11
09/28/2017 @BH-BL: BH-BL 0 - GHS 2

The Dutchmen traveled to Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake for their match. In the 33rd minute, the Dutchmen scored first. Ryan Eddy threw the ball in and Andrew Czekay flicked the ball on. Jon Medina scored his first goal of the season for the Dutchmen. The teams came out in the second half and BH-BL had a number of opportunities off of corners or direct kicks, but they were unable to score the equalizer. Then in the 73rd minute, Adam Couture stepped up and intercepted the BH-BL pass. Adam carried the ball further into the opponent's end, then made a nice pass to Brandon Ford who played a nice shot past the BH-BL goalie to put the Dutchmen up 2 to 0. The Dutchmen will play their next match on Monday at Mohonasen.



GAME 10
09/26/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Shen 0

The unseasonably warm weather delayed the start of the match by 45 minutes. With just 7 minutes remaining in the first half, th Dutchmen chipped the ball deep into Shen's end. The Shen defensive back was pressured and kicked the ball out resulting in a throw in for the Dutchmen. Ryan Eddy's throw went deep into the box where Evan Luck headed the ball off the goal post to put the Dutchmen up 1 to 0. In the second half, the Dutchmen had another scoring opportunity when Brandon Ford slipped behind th Shen defender but his shot just went wide of the goal. In the last 5 minutes of the game, Shen turned up the pressure on the Dutchmen. Shen had two direct kicks with the first going high over the goal and the second was wide right. Then with under two minutes left, Shen earned another direct kick and the shot hit the crossbar and the Dutchmen were able to clear the ball to win 1 to 0. Aaron Ashery had 5 saves for the Dutchmen. The Dutchmen will travel to Burnt Hills on Thursday for their next match at 4:15pm.


GAME 9
09/23/2017 @Saratoga: Saratoga 3 - Guilderland 0

The Dutchmen traveled to Saratoga to face the Blue Streak. The match was even until the 25th minute when Saratoga scored to take a 1 to 0 lead. In the second half, the Dutchmen had their best scoring opportunity when Chris Friguletto split the defenders but they rcovered to prevent the Dutchmen from scoring. In the 72nd minute, Saratoga scored to take a 2 to 0 lead. The last goal was scored in the 77th minute. A direct kick was awarded to Saratoga and they scored the final goal of the game. The Dutchmen's next match will be against Shenedehowa on Tuesday at home.


GAME 8

09/19/2017 @GHS: GHS 0 - Averill Park 0

The Dutchmen and Averill Park played to a scoreless tie. The Dutchmen has a few opportunities to get on the board in regulation. The best chance was late in the second half when Kevin Huang took a shot and the goalie just got his hand on it to push it over the crossbar. Then in the first overtime, Casey Tynan made a nice move along the end line and the Averill Park goalie made the save. The Dutchmen will travel to Saratoga Springs on Sunday for their next match.



GAME 7
09/14/2017 @GHS:  Guilderland 2 - Ballston Spa 1

The game was even between the two teams until the 32nd minute. The Dutchmen were awarded a corner kick and Marco Sciocchetti placed the ball into the box and Andrew Czekay scored to put the Dutchmen up 1 to 0 at the half. In the 52nd minute, the Dutch men fouled a Ballston Spa player in the box and they were awarded a penalty kick. Ballston Spa scored to tie the game at 1. In the 75th minute, the Dutchmen scored to take the lead 2 to 1. Nick Honen took a free kick which went into the box. Casey Tynan's pass went along the front of the goal and Alex Mendel scored. The Dutchmen's next match will be Tuesday at home against Averill Park

 

GAME 6
09/12/2017 @CBA:  CBA 2 - Guilderland 0

The Dutchmen travels to CBA for a match against the Brothers. In the first half, CBA had a number of opportunities but they were unable to score. Aaron Ashery came up big ona  number of opportunities and the team went to the half scoreless. In the 61st minute, there was a cross into the box and CBA scored by the CBA goalie. Then in the 78th minute, CBA placed a ball into the box and their striker headed the ball into the goal to make the final score 2 to 0. The Dutchmen will play their next match at home against Ballston Spa on Thursday.



GAME 5 (non-league)

09/08/2017 @Oneonta: Oneonta 1 - GHS 3

The Dutchmen traveled to the Wright National Soccer Complex in Oneonta for a match against Newburgh Free Academy. The Dutchmen got on the board in the 26th minute. Ruben Chen passed to Sean Weaver who was making a run down the left side of the field. Sean then played the ball into the box where Rubin's initial shot was saved by the goalie but Kevin Huang was there to put the rebound in for the goal. Then in the 38th minute, the Dutchmen made it 2-0. Dan duMoulin placed a free kick into the box and Adam Couture directed the ball into the goal. At the half, the score was Dutchmen 2-0. In the 54th minute, Nick Honen placed a free kick into the box and Andrew Czekay headed the ball into the goal to put the Dutchmen up 3-0. Newburgh scored in the 78th minute to close out the scoring for the game. The Dutchmen willl travel to CBA on Tuesday for their next match.


GAME 4
09/07/2017 @GHS: GHS 0 - Bethlehem 1

The Dutchmen and Eagles played a close game last year and this year was the same. In the first half, the Dutchmen controlled possession and they were winning the challenges which led to a number of scoring opportunities. The best chance for the Dutchmen came late in the half when Ryan Eddy's shot beat the Bethlehem keeper, hit the crossbar and came down in front of Brandon Ford whose shot just went wide. The teams went to the half scoreless. In the second half, play was more even. The Dutchmen placed a number of crosses into the box and the Bethlehem goalkeeper did a nice job coming out in traffic. Then in the 63rd minute, Bethlehem counterattacked and a give and go resulted in the lone goal of the game putting the Eagles up 1-0. The Dutchmen will travel to Oneonta on Saturday to play a non-league game.


GAME 3
09/05/2017 @Columbia: Columbia 0 - GHS 7

The Dutchmen traveled to East Greenbush for a match against Columbia. The Dutchmen struck early on a goal by Brandon Ford. Then there was a 30 min weather delay. In the 29th minute, Brandon Ford scored his second goal of the game to put the Dutchmen up 2-0. Then in the 36th minute Casey Tynan's shot glanced off the crossbar into the goal to put the Dutchmen up 3-0 at the half. In the second half, the Dutchmen continued to control the pace of the game. In the 46th minute, Marco Sciocchetti took a corner kick and Casey Tynan headed the ball in for his second goal of the game. Then three minutes later, Adam Couture dribbled the ball from the midfield to the net and scored to put Dutchmen up 5-0. In the 14th minute, Danny Tietjen scored off his corner kick to put the Dutchmen up 6-0. Columbia had their best opportunity to score in the 61st minute, the ball was heading toward the goal and Adam Couture cleared it away to keep Columbia off the board. The final goal of the game came in the 76th minute. Danny Tietjen placed the ball into the box and Sean Weaver headed it into the goal to make the final score 7-0.

08/31/2017 @GHS: Guilderland 2 - Albany 1

The Dutchmen opened their home season against Albany High. In the 13th minute, Casey Tynan placed a corner kick into the box and Chris Friguletto headed the ball into the goal to put the Dutchmen up 1 to 0. This score held up until the 61st minute when an Albany player was called for a handball in the box. The referee awarded the Dutchmen a penalty kick. Adam Couture took the penalty kick and put tyhe Dutchmen up 2 to 0 for the final score. The Dutchmen will play their next game on September 5th at Columbia.

The Dutchmen opened their season against the Flying Horses. In the 26th minute, Brandon Ford scored the Dutchmen's first goal of the season to put them up 1 to 0. The Dutchmen had some opportunities including a few throw-ins but they could not find the back of the net. In the last ten minutes of the game the Flying Horses controlled the play. They had three good scoring chances. The best opportunity made it past the goalie but the left goal post kept the ball from finding the back of the net. The next game will be the home opener Thursday against Albany HS.
