Post-Season Games (Sectionals)

10/23/2019:  GHS - Ballston Spa  0:4

Ballston Spa came right out in this game and continuosly pressured the Dutchmen. Ballston Spa scored three quick goals (4th, 11th, and 15th minute) to open up a commanding lead. The Dutchmen had a couple of opportunities to break onto the scoreboard but were unable to convert. Ballston Spa took a 3-0 lead into the half. Guilderland needed an early second half goal to get back into the game, but it was Ballston Spa that quickly added to their lead. They scored in the 46th minute. Ballston Spa maintained their aggressive play and were able to keep the Dutchmen off the scoreboard. Ballston Spa won the game 4-0.

GAME 16
10/17/2019:  GHS - CBA  0:5
Goals: 0
Assists: 0

Guilderland and CBA played pretty evenly in the early part of the game. The Suburban Council leaders opened the scoring in the 14th minute. CBA made it 2-0 in the 17th minute. CBA scored again in the 27th minute and maintained a 3-0 lead going into halftime. Guilderland tried to apply pressure to CBA but were unable to mount a strong scoring opportunity. CBA added goals in the 58th and 68th minute to build the lead to 5-0.

Sectional game on Wednesday 10/23/2019 at 3:00pm at home against Ballston Spa.



GAME 15 (non-league)
10/12/2019: GHS - Gloversville HS  6:1
Goals: (Sanza (1), Tynan (1), Rosenblatt (2), Hoyle (1), Covington (1)
Assists: Tynan (2), Madina (1), Covington (1), Rosenblatt (1)

The Dutchmen wasted no time in scoring their first goal. Nick Sanza scored in the 1st minute from an assist by Quinn Tynan. In the 29th minute, Quinn Tynan scored on a pass from Martin Madina. Caden Rosenblatt scored in the 38th minute to give Guilderland a 3-0 lead which they took into halftime. The second half played out similar to the first half. Ryan Hoyle scored, with an assist from Quinn Tyanan, in the 53rd minute. Caden Rosenblatt added his second goal of the game in the 56th minute. Avery Covington had the assist. Guilderland's final tally of the day came in the 58th minute when Avery Covington scored from an assist by Caden Rosenblatt. Gloversville  did break up the shutout in the 62nd minute.



GAME 14
10/10/2019:  Shen HS - GHS  5:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0

The Varsity team visited Shenedehowa for a night game on Thursday. Shen opened the scoring in the 8th minute of the game. Shen added to their lead in the 27th minute for a 2-0 halftime lead. The Dutchmen tried to respond to the Shen lead in the second half. Shen added to their lead in the 59th minute, the 70th minute, and the 79th minute. Guilderland was unable to crack the Shen defense and the game ended with Shenendehowa winning the game 5-0.



GAME 13
10/05/2019: GHS - Columbia HS  4:0
Goals: Madina (2), Hoyle (1), Septer (1)
Assists: Karaca (1), Francis (1), Ford (1), Hoyle (1)

Martin Madina opened the scoring against Columbia during the 12th minute. Bugra Karaca had the assist on the goal. Martin added a second goal during the 23rd minute off an assists from Shaun Francis. Ryan Hoyle made the lead 3-0 just before the half from an assist from Brandon Ford. Guilderland kept control of the game in the second half and added a goal in the 65th minute. Peyton Septer scored off a pass from Ryan Hoyle. Guilderland was able to keep Columbia off the board for the remainder of the game to complete the shutout for a final winning score of 4-0.

GAME 12
10/03/2019:  Averill Park HS - GHS  1:2
Goals: Ford (1), Tyrkus (1)
Assists: Madina (1), Karaca (1)

Guilderland came out and dominated possession and shot attempts during the entire first half. The Dutchmen were unable to convert on any of the many scoring opportunities they had. The game went to halftime with no score. The second half started the same as the first half. Guilderland again maintained a strong possession advantage. As luck would have it, Averill park scored an unexpected goal during the 68th minute to take the lead. The Dutchmen showed an immediate response by breaking the ice during the next minute. Brandon Ford scored to tie the game at 1-1 from an assist from Martin Madina. Guilderland continued to press but were unable to score again during regulation time.
In the first overtime period, the Dutchmen withstood a scoring opportunity from Averill Park when Caden Rosenblatt made a save in wet conditions off a long free kick. In the 90th minute, Illia Tyrkus scored the game winner on a corner kick from Bugra Karaca to win the game 2-1 for Guilderland.



GAME 11 (Senior Day)
09/28/2019: GHS - Colonie  4:2
Goals: Sanza (1), Francis (1), Tynan (1),

Assists: Ford (2)

The Dutchmen Boys varsity Soccer team hosted Colonie for SENIOR DAY.
Congratulations to all Seniors and their parents on this special day!
Guilderland came out immediately onto the attack. Nick Sanza scored during the 2nd minute from an assist from Brandon Ford. Colonie withstood the early goal and tied the game at 1-1 in the 15th minute. Shaun Francis broke the tie in the 23rd minute giving Guilderland a 2-1 lead. Guilderland maintained their offensive pressure and got a late goal from Quinn Tynan off an assist from Brandon Ford. The Dutchmen went into the half with a 3-1 lead. The second half started with Colonie applying pressure on the Dutchmen defense. Colonie cut the lead to one during the 55th minute. Guilderland resumed control of the game with the precarious one goal lead and got some breathing room when Avery Covington scored off a free kick in the 70th minute. No other goals were scored, and Guilderland closed off SENIOR DAY with a 4-2 victory.

GAME 10
09/26/2019:  Shaker HS - GHS  3:1
Goals: Madina (2), Francis (1)
Assists: Covington (1), Hoyle (1)

Varsity visited Shaker HS for an evening contest. The Dutchmen opened the scoring during the 8th minute. Martin Madina scored off shot from Avery Covington. The Dutchmen comtinued to apply the pressure and in the 24th minute, Shaun Francis scored from an assist from Ryan Hoyle. Guilderland maintained the lead until the 36th minute when Shaker got onto the board cutting the Dutchmen lead to 2-1. Guilderland came out in the second half and went right onto the attack. Martin Madina scored an unassisted goal in the 44th minute when he stole a pass from the Shaker goalkeeper and slotted a shot by the diving keeper. The game remained scoreless for the rest of the way. Guilderland finished the game with a 3-1 victory.



GAME 9
09/24/2019:  Burnt Hills - GHS  1:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team visited Burnt Hills on Tuesday. The game opened with both teams having scoring opportunities. In the 34th minute, Burnt Hills got on the scoreboard to take a 1-0 lead. That lead held up until the half. The second half was evenly played with both teams trying to penetrate the other defense. The Dutchmen began pressing for an equalizer during the last 20 minutes of the game. The Burnt Hills goalkeeper and defenders kept the Dutchmen off the board to complete the shutout.



GAME 8
09/23/2019:  GHS - Niskayuna  1:3
Goals: Tyrkus (1)
Assists: Madina (1)

Dutchmen hosted Niskayuna on Monday. Niskayuna opened the scoring in the 7th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Guilderland responded in less than a minute when Illia Tyrkus scored off an assist from Martin Madina. The remainder of the first half was evenly played with neither team able to score. The game went to the half tied at 1-1. Niskayuna was able to beat the Guilderland defense in the 48th minute to go ahead by a score of 2-1. The guests maintained a slight advantage in the play and scored again in the 68th minute. The Dutchmen were unable to finish their scoring opportunities and as a result, Niskayuna won the game by a score of 3-1.

GAME 7
09/19/2019: Bethlehem - GHS  3:0
Goals: 0
Assists: 0

The Dutchmen traveled to Bethlehem on Thursday to renew their long time rivalry. Both teams came out in the game with scoring opportunities. The Dutchmen had two scoring opportunities in the first 12 minutes that just went wide of the Bethlehem goal. Bethlehem opened the scoring in the 27th minute. Both teams continued to push forward but neither team was able to score for the rest of the first half. Bethlehem lead 1-0 at the half. Bethlehem began to get the better of the play during the beginning of the second half. In the 57th minute, Bethlehem scored to give them a 2-0 lead. The Eagles added another goal in the 70th minute to complete the scoring for a 3-0 home win over the Dutchmen.

The Dutchmen took control of the game right from the start. Illia Tyrkus scored during the 7th minute with an assist from Martin Madina. Bugra Karaca scored a goal off a rebound in the 17th minute. Illia Tyrkus was credited with the assist. Illia Tyrkus made it 3-0 in the 39th minute from an assist by Shaun Francis. Guilderland came out in the second half and continued to dominate the game. In the 45th minute, Brandon Ford scored a goal off an assist from David Talone. Martin Madina scored in the 59th minute from a pass by Nick Sanza. Aiden Doyle scored 4 minutes later from an assist by Caden Rosenblatt. Shaun Francis added to the Dutchmen lead in the 66th minute from an assist by Caden Rosenblatt. Caden completed the scoring in the 78th minute for a final score of 8-0.



GAME 5 (non-league)
09/14/2019: Mechanicville - GHS  0:4

Guilderland started the scoring in the 4th minute. Quinn Tynan one-timed a free kick from David Talone to beat the Mechanicville goalkeeper.  In the 10th minute, Illia Tyrkus received a pass from Martin Madina and slotted a shot into the far corner of the goal to increase the Guilderland lead to 2-0. The Dutchmen had the better of the possession but were unable to add to their lead for the rest of the first half. Guilderland led 2-0 at the half. The Dutchmen added to their lead in the 63rd minute. Bugra Karaca scored the goal off an assist from Quinn Tynan. Guilderland completed the scoring in the 72nd minute when Peyton Septer played a beautiful pass to Caden Rosenblatt who scored past the goalkeeper coming off his line for the final winning score of 4-1.



GAME 4
09/12/2019: GHS - Troy HS  4:1

Guilderland came out quickly to pressure the Troy defense. In the 5th minute, Illia Tyrkus received a pass from Bugra Karaca and scored past an oncoming Troy goal keeper. Illia scored again five minutes later from an assist from Brandon Ford. In the 27th minute, Illia Tyrkus completed his hat trick from an assist from Caden Rosenblatt. The Dutchmen led 3-0 at halftime. Early in the second half, Guilderland continued their possession dominance and added to their lead in the 53rd minute. Bugra Karaca converted a penalty kick to increase their lead to 4-0. Troy got on the board in the 69th minute to cut the lead to 4-1. Guilderland was able to keep Troy off the board for the remainder of the game and won the game by a final score of 4-1.



GAME 3
09/10/2019:  Albany HS - GHS  4:0

Albany came out and took the game to the Dutchmen. Albany scored two goals in the first half. The first came in the 19th minute and the second goal was scored in the 27th minute. Guilderland was unable to break through the Albany defense and the game went to the half with Albany having a 2-0 lead. Albany went up 3-0 in the 43th minute. Guilderland then began to pressure the Albany defense and even out the possession. Albany scored the final goal of the game and went on to complete a 4-0 victory over Guilderland.



GAME 2
09/05/2019: Saratoga HS - GHS  4:2

Dutchmen Varsity visited Saratoga on Thursday. Saratoga opened the scoring in the 23rd minute of the game. They added a second goal 10 minutes later and took a 2-0 lead into the half. Guilderland came right out in the second half and took it directly to Saratoga. Illia Tyrkus scored in the 42nd minute on a pass from Bugra Karaca to cut the Saratoga lead to 2-1. The Dutchmen maintained their pressure on the Saratoga defense. During the 48th minute, Guilderland tied the game when Quinn Tynan scored off an assist from Illia Tyrkus. Saratoga broke the tie when they scored in the 52nd minute off a counterattack. Saratoga then went up 4-2 in the 62nd minute. The Dutchmen had a few more opportunities to try to cut into the Saratoga lead but were unable to score. Saratoga won the game 4-2.

The Boys Varsity Soccer team opened their 2019 season by hosting Ballston Spa. Guilderland held a strong possession advantage during the first half of the game but were unable to get past the Ballston Spa goalkeeper. The game was scoreless at halftime. Ballston Spa came out in the second half and matched the Dutchmen in scoring opportunities. Neither team was able to score until the final minute. Caden Rosenblatt played a through ball to Brandon Ford who broke into the box and slotted a shot past the charging Ballston Spa keeper. Guilderland was able to hold off a last second push by Ballston Spa and finished the game with a 1-0 victory. GHS will travel to Saratoga for their next game.
