Quarter Final:

CBA vs. Guilderland: 2:0

The Guilderland Boys Varsity Soccer team traveled to CBA, the #1 Seed, in the quarterfinal Sectional game. CBA came right out of the gate showing why they are the top seed in the Sectionals. In the 4th minute, CBA was able to open the scoring on a strong individual effort. Following the goal, the Dutchmen raised their level of play. Each team had scoring opportunities, but neither were able to score going into halftime. CBA led 1-0 at the half.
The second half opene with CBA having a few good scoring chances. The Guilderland defense was able to keep CBA from adding to their lead. In the 55th minute, Guilderland created their best scoring opportunity. The Guilderland chance went just wide of the goal. In the 60th minute, CBA added to their lead by putting away a header off a free kick. One more scoring opportunity in the 68th minute. Sean Weaver's shot from inside the box was saved by the CBA goalie. Guilderland failed to score in the remainder of the game.

Opening Round:

Guilderland vs. Schenectady: 6-3

Varsity hosted Schenectady on Wednesday in the opening round of the Class AA Sectionals. Schenectady opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game. Guilderland immediately answered the Schenectady goal with a goal from Logan Hoffman in the 9th minute. Casey Tynan had the assist. Guilderland took a 2-1 lead in the 22nd minute. Casey Tynan scored on a cross from Andrew Czekay. Guilderland did control the play up to the end of the first half, but in the final 15 seconds, Schenectady was able to tie the score at 2-2. Guilderland continued to maintain the advantage in play at the start of the second half. Casey Tynan gave Guilderland the lead again in the 50th minute. Sean Weaver had the assist. Sean Weaver played a beautiful through ball to Brandon Ford leading to Guilderland's 4th goal of the game during the 58th minute. In the 63rd minute, Casey Tynan completed his hat trick off of Andrew Czekay's second assist of the game. Schenectady did not let up and was able to cut the Guilderland lead to 5-3 in the 65th minute. Guilderland was able to put the game away in the 74th minute. Nick Sanza scored on an assist from Peyton Septer.
With this win, Guilderland moves on to the Class AA Section Quarter Finals against the number 1 seed, CBA. The game will be on Saturday, 10/20, @ 2:00pm at CBA.

GAME 16 - Senior Day
10/13/2018 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Shaker 3

The Guilderland Boys Varsity Soccer Team hosted Shaker for Senior Day. Following a special pre-game ceremony for the Dutchmen Seniors and their parents, the final regular season game began. Shaker opened the scoring in the 3rd minute of the game from a header off of a corner kick.Shaker added to their lead two minutes later scoring off a rebound. Shaker had a 2-0 lead after five minutes. Guilderland did have several scoring opportunities in the first half including a Casey Tynan shot that hit the crossbar. Shaker held a 2-0 lead at halftime. The second half opened with Guilderland pushing forward aggressively. However, in the 47th minute Shaker scored their third goal of the game. Guilderland again increased their level of play to try to get back into th egame. Andrew Czekay also hit the crossbar from about 18 yards out keeping the Dutchmen off the board. In the 64th minute, Brandon Ford converted a corner kick to bring Guilderland within 2 goals. The remaining 15 minutes of the game saw the Dutchmen try to make the game a one goal game, but were unable to get another goal.

10/09/2018 @Burnt Hills: Burnt Hills 2 - GHS 1

The Guilderland Boys varsity Soocer Team visited Burnt Hills in their next to last game in the regular season. The Dutchmen came right off the kick-off and immediately created scoring a opportunity. Andrew Czekay played a long angular through ball connecting with a sprinting Chris Friguletto on the right side. Chris received the pass and then slotted a shot past the sliding Burnt Hills keeper. Guilderland took the 1-0 lead in the first minute of the game. The flow of the game slowly shifted in favor of Burnt Hills during the next 20 minutes. Burnt Hills tied the game at 1-1 during the 18th minute. Neither team was able to score in the remainder of the first half. Burnt Hills opened the second half with strong ball possession and was able to take a 2-1 lead during the 49th minute. The Dutchmen played the rest of the second half trying to score the tying goal. One excellent opportunity went just wide of the Burnt Hills goal in the 65th minute. The Dutchmen were unable to score the tying goal and in the end Burnt Hills won the game by a score of 2-1.

Dutchmen Varsity hosted league leading CBA on Thursday. CBA opened the scoring in the 24th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Dutchmen answered the CBA goal with an increased level of play. Several opportunities were generated prior to Peyton Septer being taken down in the CBA penalty area resulting in a penalty kick. Caset Tynan put away the PK in the 37th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Both teams tried to go forward aggressively when the opportunity arose. In the 53rd minute, CBA scored to regain the lead. CBA added to their lead in the 70th minute from an own goal from Guilderland. The Dutchmen tried to come back during the late stages of the game but were unable to get any closer.



GAME 13
10/02/2018 @GHS: Guilderland 0 - Albany 4

The Boys varsity Soccer team hosted Albany on Wednesday. Albany opened the scoring in the 6th minute of the game. Albany added goals in the 24th and 38th minute to go into the half leading 3-0. The Dutchmen increased their level of play in the second half. There were several promising opportunities building in the Albany half of ther field that were ultimately stopped by the Albany defense. Albany added a fourth goal in the 65th minute to complete the scoring.

09/27/2018 @Bethlehem: Bethlehem 2 - GHS 1

The Boys Varsity Soccer Team visited Bethlehem on Thursday to renew their long standing rivalry. Bethlehem came out and took control of the ball possession from the start. In the 7th minute, Bethlehem scored with a 25 yard shot into the top corner of the goal to give them a 1-0 lead. Bethlehem continued to have the better of the play and added to their lead during the 31st minute. Bethlehem went into the half with a 2-0 lead. Guilderland came out in the second half and were able to create scoring opportunities. In the 56th minute Brandon Ford broke through the Bethlehem defense and was taken down in the penalty area. The Bethlehem goalkeeper was able to save the subsequent penalty kick. Guilderland continued to keep Bethlehem off the board while occasionally creating dangerous situations. Brandon Ford was again taken down in the penalty area for the second penalty kick for the Dutchmen. Casey Tynan scored on the penalty kick in the 72nd minute. Guilderland was unable to equalize in the last 8 minutes and lost by a final score of 1-3.

The Dutchmen Boys Varsity Soccer Team travelled to Ballston Spa on Saturday. Ballston Spa opened the scoring in the 7th minute of the game. Both teams had opportunities in the remainder of the first half but were unable to score. Ballston Spa held a halftime lead of 1-0. Guilderland came out in the second half and increased their level of play by pressuring Ballston Spa all over the field. Several scoring opportunities for Guilderland were well defended by the Ballston Spa defense and the goalkeeper. Guilderland's pressure finally led to a goal. In the 60th minute, Chris Friguletto attacked the goal from the end line and beat the Ballston Spa goalkeeper to tie the game at 1-1. In the last 20 min of the game, both teams had scoring chances but no more goals were scored. Regulation time ended at 1-1. In overtime, Guilderland continued to apply strong pressure on the Ballston Spa defense, In the 82nd minute, Casey Tynan scored the game winning goal by picking up a loose ball in front of the goal and shooting it into the far corner of the goal for the final score of 2-1 for the Dutchmen.



GAME 10
09/20/2018 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Shen 5

Shenendehowa maintained ball possession for the early part of the game. They scored in the 12th and 20th minute to take a 2-0 lead. Guilderlanbd then began to apply pressure to the Shen defense. In the 29th minute, Logan Hoffman headed a cross from Casey Tynan past the Shen goalkeeper to cut the lead to 2-1. The Dutchmen had two other good scoring opportunities that were stopped by the Shen goalkeeper. Shen went to the half with a 2-1 lead. Shen came out and scored in the 43rd minute to regain their two goal lead. Shen made the score 4-1 in the 57th minute. Guilderland tried to penetrate the Shen defense but were unable to tally a second goal. Shen finished the scoring in the 77th minute for a final score of 5-1.

09/17/2018 @Gloversville: Gloversville 0 - GHS 4

Dutchmen Varsity visited Gloversville in a non-league game contest on Monday night. Guilderland maintained a significant possession advantage when in the 30th minute, Ryan Hoyle re-directed a cross from Casey Tynan past the Glovervill's goalkeeper for the first goal of the game. Guilderland went into the half with a 1-0 lead. Guilderland came out in the second half and continued to hold a majority of the possession. Sean Weaver scored in the 52nd minute to give the Dutchmen a 2-0 lead. Logan Hoffman added two goals for the Dutchmen. Logan scored his first goal in the 65th minute. He concluded the scoring for the game in the 73rd minute on an assist from Peyton Septer.



GAME 8
09/15/2018 @Oneonta: Garden City 5 - GHS 1

GHS Varsity traveled to Oneonta to play in a non-league game against Garden City, LI, as part of a local fundraiser. Garden City maintained a high level of possession during the first half. The control of the game paid off for them scoring four times in the first half while Guilderland was unable to mount a serious scoring opportunity. Guilderland was able to tally in the 58th minute when Owen VanDeusen scored on an asist from Chris Friguletto.



GAME 7
09/13/2018 @Colonie: Colonie 0 - Guilderland 5

The Guilderland Boys Varsity Soccer Team visited Colonie on Thursday. Brandon Ford opened the scoring 16 minutes into the game when he put away a loose ball in the penalty area. Brandon Ford scored again during the 32nd minute on an assist from Chris Friguletto. Guilderland led 2:0 going into the half. Brandon Ford completed his hat trick with his third goal in the 45th minute. Sean Weaver had the assist. Casey Tynan scored 8 minutes later on Chris Friguletto's second assist of the game. Ryan Hoyle completed the scoring in the 62nd minute on an assist from Nick Sanza, ending the game on a final score of 5:0 for Guilderland.

09/11/2018 @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Columbia 0

Dutchmen hosted Columbia on Tuesday. Guilderland held a large possession advantage for the entire game but were unable to score in regular time. In the first overtime period, Columbia had a scoring opportunity with a corner kick. Ryan Knoll made a strong save to keep the game scoreless. In the 5th minute of overtime, Caset Tynan received a ball from Andrew Czekay and scored the game winning goal.

09/08/2018 @Schenectady: Schenectady 1- GHS 3

The Dutchmen visited Schenectady on Saturday. The host opened the scoring in the 5th minute of the game. The Dutchmen equalized in the 10th minute when Andrew Czekay scored. Chris Friguletto gave Guilderland a 2-1 lead from an assist by Burga Karaca in the 16th minute. Guilderland continued to have the better of the play for the remainder of the first half, but were unable to add to their lead. Guilderland led 2-1 at the half. Guilderland continued to control the game when in the 62nd minute, Sean Weaver scored to make it a 3-1 lead and final score.



GAME 4
09/06/2018: @GHS: Guilderland 0 - Averill Park 1

The Dutchmen hosted Averill Park on Thursday afternoon and began the game with dominating ball possession leading to promising opportunities. However, the Dutchmen were unable to score. In the 18th minutye, Averill Park was able to score in a mad scramble in front of the Guilderland goal. The Dutchmen the resumed their ball possession but could not convert on any chances. Averill Park led 1-0 at halftime. The second half saw more of the same as Guilderland pressured Averill Park to try to tie the game. BrandonFord hit the crossbar in the middle of the second half. The Dutchmen failed to score with the game ending in 1-0 Averill Park victory.



GAME 3
09/04/2018: @Troy: Troy 0 - Guilderland 5

On Tuesday night, the GHS Boys Soccer Team traveled for an away game to Troy. During the 10th minute, Brandon Ford was taken down in the penalty area resulting in a penalty kick. Brandon converted the penalty himself to give Guilderland a 1-0 lead. Andrew Czekay scored off a header on a corner kick taken by Burga Karaca during the 27th minute. Guilderland had the better of the possession but did not add to their lead going into the half. Casey Tynan scored during the 43rd minute from an assists by Brandon Ford. One minute later, Brandon Ford made the lead 4-0 on a free kick from about 25 yards out. With one second remaining on the clock, Sean Weaver's long distance shot hit the back of the net to finish the scoring. Danny Tietjen had the assist.

08/30/2018: @GHS: Guilderland 1 - Saratoga 4

The GHS boys soccer team held their home opener on Thursday against Saratoga. Saratoga opened the scoring in the 16th minute to take a 1-0 lead. Ryan Knoll made two good saves to keep the score unchanged at the half. Saratoga made the score 2-0 during the 50th minute off a free kick shot eluding the Guilderland keeper. The guests scored two more goals during the 68th and 72nd minute to open the score to 4-0. Casey Tynan scored on a penalty kick during the 76th minute for Guilderland's only goal.

08/28/2018: @Niskayuna: Nisky 0 - Guilderland 0

It was a very hot day to kick off the 2018 Boys Varsity Soccer Season. The Dutchmen traveled to Niskayuna for the first game of the season. Both teams had chances to score during the first half. Brandon Ford and Casey Tynan each had scoring opportunities that were nicely saved by the Niskayuna goalkeeper. Niskayuna also had two good scoring opportunities in the first half. Ryan Knoll made a nice save coming off his line to stop a 1-on-1 opportunity. The game went to the half tied 0-0. After a well deserved halftimebreak, the two teams started the second half. Guilderland nearly scored when Logan Hoffman backheeled a cross that hit the top of the crossbar. Due to the extreme heat, the referees halted the game 5 minjutes into the second half. The final score was Niskayuna 0 - Guilderland 0. The Dutchmen will have their home opener on Thursday hosting Saratoga.
